Objectives
The
Radio Control Association of Jamaica (RCAJ) is a non-political, non-sectarian,
non-profit organization.
Our
objective is to grow and develop the Radio Control Hobby in Jamaica, by
expanding awareness and also by facilitating the safe practice of Radio Control
vehicles.
This
we intend to achieve by
1.
Establishing a common forum and point of contact for the exchange of
knowledge and resources.
2.
Identifying and developing safe community friendly areas for the
practice of Radio Control vehicles.
3.
Promote Radio Control Events open to public viewing and participation.
Organisational Structure
RCJamaica is constituted by registered members and
headed by a five-member Executive headed by a President and a ten-member board.
Individuals are
elected to the positions during an Annual General Meeting,
only registered members in good standing (all fees paid up) are allowed to vote
or hold positions.
The operation of
the organization will be guided by the Executive, events or specific undertakings
may be assigned to individual(s) from the board as decided by the Executive.
Officials
The positions and relevant responsibilities are
outlined below:
The Executive
consists of five persons drawn from the elected members of the RCAJ BOARD, the President
will select the members of the Executive from the elected members of the board.
The roles and
responsibilities of the Officials of the RCAJ will be assigned by the president
to the members of his Executive, with their acceptance of course.
President responsible for general supervision and
operation of RCJamaica
Vice President responsible for assisting the president
and acting in his/her stead when he/she is unavailable
Treasurer responsible for handling the finances of
the organization and preparing financial reports for the board
Secretary Preparing and circulating the minutes of
the RCJamaica meetings and disseminating information
as required to the members of RCJamaica.
The Board
the board of the RCAJ is a sitting of 10 members of the RCAJ of which the
Executive members are a part
Election of Board members
Officials will be
elected for a term of one year during the Annual General Meeting of the RCAJ.
Only member of the
RCAJ with paid dues are allowed to vote and to stand for election
Election of
Officials will be done through a process of nomination and vote,
a member can be nominated by a minimum of three RCAJ members. His/Her
nomination will then go to the vote in the AGM.
A Board member of
the RCAJ can only be removed from office by an Emergency General Meeting during
which a no confidence vote can be called and passed by at least a 2/3 majority.
Such a meeting can
only be called by the Executive and is only called if a letter requesting same
and the reasons for the meeting is sent to the executive signed by at least 5
members of the RCAJ.
Such a meeting
will then be called within 5 days of receipt of such a letter.
Once removed the
position will be filled temporarily by appointment by the RCAJ Executive the
member being taken from the Board members until such time as a proper Election
can be held at the next Annual General Meeting
Quorum
Before any AGM or
Emergency General Meeting can be in effect a quorum of RCAJ members must be in
attendance, this quorum will constitute at least 50% of the members of the
RCAJ.
Members
The membership of
the RCAJ will comprise of any individual interested in Radio control Hobby
living or staying in Jamaica and has paid his membership fee or made
arrangements to do same.
Anyone not in this
category is still a welcome participant but will not be afforded the rights
Members of our organization are committed
to the growth and development of Radio Control both as a Hobby and a sport.
Our members will be required to sit on our board and serve in the
capacities as outlined above during events members may be called upon to
provide assistance in planning and manning the event in addition to
participation.
Membership Fee
There will be membership fee of $10,000.00 per year for all
members. Members are free
to pay fees on a monthly, quarterly or annual
basis. Members are also free to make
other
Donations in cash or kind as it become necessary.
Cessation of membership
- Any member failing to renew his/her
membership by paying his dues within 14 days of it becoming due shall
forfeit all rights as a member of the RCAJ
- A member can resign from the RCAJ by
supplying to the RCAJ a written notice of same
- No refunds of membership dues will be
facilitated
Rights and obligations of members
RCAJ members will
be allowed to participate free of charge in any RCAJ sponsored event, excluding
Prize Race meets.
They will also be
entitled to all other benefits that may accrue from time to time.
Indemnification of members
The liability of
each member of the RCAJ at the relevant time of any action or claim is limited
to a maximum of $1.00 per member.
RCAJ Sanctioned Events
An Event can
become a RCAJ sanctioned event and be placed on our calendar by the organizers
sending a written proposal of same to the RCAJ for review by the RCAJ board.
The organizer will
need to abide by the class rules and stipulations of the RCAJ, as outlined in
RCAJ class rules and RCAJ Entry forms.
Depending on the
Event and the involvement of the RCAJ a few may be charged by the RCAJ.
RCAJ Ban
An Individual can
be banned from a RCAJ event on the day by the meet director,
if a longer-term ban is deemed necessary by the meet director then a formal
letter of complaint must be sent to the RCAJ board where the decision will be
taken whether to ban the individual for life, year or single meet.
All bans can be
appealed by the individual by writing to the RCAJ board with notification of
same with a explanation as to why the ban should be
lifted.
Powers of the RCAJ
The RCAJ will be
free to contract, let, rent, or enter into any form of legal arrangement deemed
fit by the executive of the RCAJ board.
Such contractual
arrangements can only be entered into by the passing of a written resolution at
a RCAJ board meting with a minimum of 2/3 of the board voting in favour.
With this mandate
the president will be free to execute the agreement within the specific
parameters outlined in the resolution.
